Revival Cycles is proud to offer Motogadget gauges; precision made in Germany and known to be the finest gauges available. Several of our complete custom projects sport them and impressive they definitely are. We all have our own reasons for wanting the simple look of a single gauge, but why give up function in the process? These gauges allow you to have it all: high tech function with the simple, minimalist look of a single gauge on your custom project.
The Chronoclassic from Motogadgetis technically identical to the familiar Motoscope Classic. The dimensions, functions and mounting accessories are all the same. The most evident differences with Chronoclassic are the white numbers on the black dial in a design reminiscent of the old Smiths tachometers.....think Vincent. The Chronoclassic is also available as a Speedometer.
Accordingly, the needle on the analog tachometer is painted white and its aluminum hub is highly polished. The needle contrasts perfectly with the polished outer ring, but it can also be ordered with a black anodized ring instead. This option also gives the gauge a nice understated effect.
Another special feature on this LCD display: the standard LCD design has a green background and is 'transflective,' which means that the contrast increases with surrounding light to ensure the best possible readability in all conditions.
The Chronoclassic Dark Edition has an LCD with bright numbers on a dark background. Together with the dark dial it further hides its high-tech features and integrates the LCD into the overall design much better for that 'hidden' effect. However, it should be noted that the 'transflective' quality is less effective and thus harder to read in direct sunlight conditions. Many would easily sacrifice this feature for that stealthy look.
As with all Motogadget products, this gauge is constructed with state-of-the-art technology, high-quality materials, fantastic build-quality and intensive quality assurance to help guarantee maximum visual and functional quality that is 'made in Germany.'
The Chronoclassic Dark Edition is made to order at the factory and can sometimes take an additional 3-4 weeks to ship. If lead time is a concern, we encourage you to contact us regarding available stock.
The high-quality billet aluminum casing is turned and milled on CNC machines. With the Chronoclassic, the surface is left with a brushed anodized black finish. The casing is fully water and weather tight. The instrument's transparent faceplate is manufactured out of a special scratch-resistant plastic. The flat casing ensures greater flexibility when installing and designing the cockpit. The common mounting dimensions of 80 mm often make replacing the original instruments very easy.
The analog display with needle and the LC display The white needle on a black dial optimises RPM readability. The dial also uses an innovative, full-surface backlit display. Adjustable transmission ratio factors and needle damping ensures the precise and jitter-free engine speed display by the stepper motor. The green LC display is also very easy to read and illuminates well in direct sunlight. The dark LCD of the Dark Edition is more difficult to read in bright light.
Four ultra-bright control LEDs complete the instrument. The red LED functions as a warning light when reaching the specified thresholds for RPM, temperature (minimum/maximum), pressure measurement (minimum/maximum), as well as for the oil pressure switch or similar sensors which may be available. The various warning functions are distinguishable by different flashing rates.
Operation A menu button or high-beam button on the handlebar is used to switch from one display mode to another. The first few lines permanently display the speed. Other measured values can be retrieved by pressing the button on the display as needed. The menu button is also the programming button and is used to enter all of the specific values of the motorcycle. Settings or saved values are automatically saved even if the gauge loses standby power (dead battery).
Installation and connection The Chronoclassic can generally be installed on almost any motorcycle. Its small dimensions and conventional installation size makes mounting the gauge to any motorcycle easy. We offer various optional mounting cups, supports and mounting accessories. Please inquire with questions for whatever is needed.
Sensors and connecting Cables Delivery includes the system plugs for all interconnecting electrical cables as well as an approved Dry-Reed sensor for speed measurement. An approximately 1.5 m long connecting cable makes it possible to attach it to the front or rear wheel.
The signal cable for RPM measurement is simply attached to the ignition coil or spark plug.
Furthermore, we offer sensors suited to the optional measurement of air, oil, and water temperature as well as oil pressure. Versions (RPM, ignition) The casings are available in black. The standard threaded ring is polished, but can also be anodized black. The standard version is equipped with a green LCD. The 'Dark Edition' has a dark LCD. All instruments available with engine speed scales from 8,000 rpm to 14,000 rpm. Different threaded rings, LCD designs or scales are all the same price.
Instruments for CDI ignitions (capacitor ignitions), which are often used in Enduros, Quads and vehicles with two-stroke engines, may possibly require a special ignition signal pickup unit. Please ask for details regarding compatibility to your vehicle.

After much research on what to fit on my 1965 Honda CB160 café racer I finally settled on the Motogadget Chronoclassic and I am glad I did. Has all the features, and flexibility, I was looking for. Top quality gauge. Great service received from Revival Cycles. My full Motogadget gauge review can be seen here; http://gordsgarage.wordpress.com/2013/08/24/something-old-somtehing-new-somthing-bought-and-something-cool/
100% impressed over and over again by Jeff & Co at Revival. They’re patient and kind no matter the enquiry (currently resto-modding an R100/7 and have LOTS of questions about the Motogadget rewire) and go out of their way to offer creative solutions and out of the box thinking. I will forever return and recommend Revival.
