The eCommerce Manager will be primarily responsible for overseeing and managing a company's eCommerce department with a significant online presence. They will handle decision-making for the website, social media accounts, and online advertising. They will also be responsible for the research and development of new online marketing strategies and hiring and training the rest of the eCommerce division. An ideal candidate for this position is an organized, analytical person with strong technical skills. They will be able to multitask effectively and be able to problem-solve when needed. Must be able to successfully manage a team of people and delegate tasks based on skills. They must be creative, pragmatic, and eager to learn. Empathy, transparency, flexibility, and resiliency are key traits for success.
Website Design: The eCommerce Manager will be responsible for determining the website's format and features to maximize clarity and ease of navigation for customers. They will liaise with the web designers to develop and update the website as needed. (A bonus if you have development experience)
Research and Development: The eCommerce Manager will keep abreast of new developments in the e-marketing world. They will also research the company's core demographics and how to best reach them to maximize search engine traffic and the effect of the company's targeted ad buys.
Supervision, Hiring, and Training: The eCommerce Manager will oversee the entire eCommerce division and delegate departmental tasks. They will also be responsible for interviewing, bringing their preferred candidates to upper management, and providing necessary training.
Financial Planning and Budgeting: The eCommerce Manager will have a set budget for their division. An eCommerce manager's job is to plan for e-marketing expenditures well in advance and develop a financial plan to maximize their resources.
Project Development and Presentation: The eCommerce Manager will liaise directly with upper management and present their plans for any new advances or initiatives to improve its online presence and e-sales.
Communication: The eCommerce Manager must be an excellent communicator. They must clearly describe job duties to those they supervise and layout complete plans to the management. Expert written and verbal communication is key to getting ideas across.
__Technical Understanding: __ The eCommerce Manager must have a strong grasp of modern technology, and social media is essential to an eCommerce Manager's job. An expert understanding of spreadsheets, databases, financial analysis, website design, search engine optimization, and e-marketing strategy will be vital to fulfilling the job's many functions.
Flexibility: The eCommerce Manager must be willing to work long, irregular hours when needed. The market changes quickly, and new developments may require a quick overhaul of the company's strategy. Thus, the ideal candidate will be able to change strategy and rethink conventional wisdom at any time.
Professionalism: The eCommerce Manager will be required to oversee a team, meet with clients and designers, and present to the management team. As such, a professional approach in appearance and speaking ability will be essential for success.
