“Bird-caging” is a crucial process thats performed prior to solder bonding a cable ferrule to a control cable. This process creates a large, knot-like (or bird cage) formation at the tip of the wire which promotes a tighter solder bond and provides superior pull-out resistance so the cable doesn’t depend solely on the solder bond.
The only tool of its kind on the planet. This kit is based off the bird cage tool used by the legendary Venhill Engineering UK in their own cable manufacturing process, with a few minor tweaks to accommodate garage/workshop use. Simple yet robust and built to last a lifetime.
I hesitated spending the money for this tool, just for a few cables, but it really made a nice "Ball" that makes my cables far stronger than they were. I also invested in a solder pot, which is a must. That pot and this tool and anyone can make quality cables.
expensive but works great! so far have used it for throttle cable for kart...I'll need to make a lot of cables for it to pay for itself but when you want custom parts it's great to make them yourself!
