The story behind the shirt
Most Revival Faithful may look at this new 90's throwback MX shirt and think, "Damn, that's a sweet shirt!" Well, you'd be correct, but there is a lot behind this shirt and why we made it. You see, the fella making those sick jumps on the front is Revival's own Chris Davis. Pretty much every custom bike that has rolled out of the shop has had his touch on it.
In addition to being a master mechanic and builder Chris is a very accomplished racer. Just look at this resumé:
Road Racing: CMRA Licensed racer, CMRA Big Bike Endurance, 1st in class 2013, RideSmart Motorcycle Instructor
AHRMA Licensed racer - Moto Guzzi LeMans at Barber, CB450 at NOLA
Off-Road - TORCS Member competitor, TSCEC Enduro competitor, Multiple class wins and podium finishes
LAB2V - all hard routes finisher 2020
That 505 you have noticed showing up on our goods is also very specific and special. It's Chris's Racer Number. Its origin can be traced to the street address of his 505 W. St. Johns house, which had a 900 sq. ft house and a 1500 sq. ft Workshop for projects. Chris rented 1/3 of the shop to help start Revival Cycles. 505 reminds us of where Revival began and the fun that got us into motorcycles.
After riding on streets for years, Chris motored down the rabbit hole of track day riding. Practicing riding techniques at Track Days, trying different motorcycles, and learning race tracks, Chris went farther down the rabbit hole of road racing, honing his skill and experience and really challenging himself against other riders. Along with having a great time, he learned more about riding and teamwork than ever before. However, with the realization of how much money and dedication it requires to race competitively, the professional motorcycle racer dream died. Chris found himself where most competitive motorcyclists live, too slow to be fast but too fast to be slow. The camaraderie at events, the lifelong friendships, the challenges of riding, and the absolute joy when it all goes right; that's what fuels Chris and most other competitive riders to continue to ride, as long as they're having fun. In the end, the joy of riding keeps Chris and riders like him on two wheels.
